Summer 2008 Course:

MCom 139: Specialized Writing: Profiles and Obits. Section 80, Course #30417. This online writing class fulfills a three-unit upper division writing elective for journalism and public relations students. An orientation session on campus is optional, and student do not have to attend class meetings during the 10 weeks the class operates, from early June to early August. Students use Blackboard as a content delivery and study management system.

Spring 2008 Courses:

Journalism 133: Editing and News Management. This is the required editing course for reporting/editing, magazine and photojournalism students. Two sections are offered this term, #20955, by Michael Stoll, mstoll@casa.sjsu.edu, and #28001, by me. We are team-teaching them at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays in DBH226. Jour 135: Spartan Daily. The official catalog title is Reporting, Editing and Managment. This class produces the Daily four days a week on newsprint and five days online. The prerequisites are Jour61 and Jour132, with Jour133 encouraged, although 133 can be taken at the same time as the first semester on the Daily.

Reporter and editor at the San Jose Mercury News for 30 years (retired in 1999).
Lecturer at San José State University, part time from 1978 to 1999, then full time through Spring 2005, once again part time.
Lecturer at California State University, Hayward, part time from 1969 to 1979.
