Bob Rucker named director of School of Journalism and
Mass Communications
You can drop the "Interim" in front of my job title. Monday the
dean, new provost and president named me the permanent director of the School
of Journalism and Mass Communications. I am proud beyond belief to be the
first African-American to lead this school in its 76 year history!

no-show. You can be dropped. JMC School enforces this.

JMC Globetrotting This Summer: Ireland and France
MCOM 101: Law and Ethics will be taught for all media majors while exploring Ireland or all are invited to meet some major international public relations experts in Paris! Both opportunities are this summer. Learn more by visiting the Journalism School Office, DBH 105.
NEW JMC School Facebook Internship
The JMC School has a new Facebook presence, and I am setting up a special
internship opportunity. I'm looking for two or three JMC School students
(advertising, PR or journalism) who can demonstrate strong skills using many
features on Facebook. Expect to be interviewed and some competition for these
unpaid, 3 unit internship for credit opportunities. Students schedules must be
flexible, and they must work closely with me every week to update JMC info,
videos and photos.
Sign up for an interview in the Journalism Office, DBH 105 between Jan. 25th and
Feb. 2nd. Students chosen will be given an add code to sign up for internship
credit by the last day to add a class this semester, Feb. 13th. Miss that date
and you receive no credit.
Spartan Ad Club to hold first Spring meeting
Spartan Ad Club will be having its first meeting of the semester on February 9th at 6 PM in DBH 225. Food and refreshments will be provided for all who attend! Subsequent meetings take place every other Thursday evening. SAC is open to students of all majors who are interested in advertising, whether they are on the creative or management side, or just want to learn more about the industry. SAC is a great way to meet fellow JMC students, network with industry professionals, and find internship opportunities. If you can't attend the first meeting, join Spartan Ad Club's Facebook page.
Remember Add-Drop Deadlines!
Everyone REMEMBER: Last day to DROP a class at SJSU is Feb. 6th. The Last
day to ADD a spring class is Feb. 13th. The JMC School enforces those
deadlines. Expect NO exceptions. Students disenrolled due to non-payment of
fees cannot add or drop JMC School classes after those deadlines.
