Study new media in Silicon Valley
We have devoted two years to revamping our Master’s of Science degree in Mass Communications to sharpen the focus on new media forms being invented here in Silicon Valley. As this revised program works its way toward curricular approval, we will begin accepting applications in October 2011 for matriculation in August 2012.
Whether you wish to pursue a career in advertising, journalism, public relations or a related communications field, studying at San José State University will combine attention to established principles with hands-on experience. You will work in multimedia teams to produce media products for the variety of platforms used in the communications industry.
Our program offers a research track leading to a thesis and a professional track leading to a multimedia project. Courses in both tracks are taught mostly in the evening to accommodate students holding daytime jobs. Those who are able to study full time may finish in three semesters if they arrive with some multimedia skills. (Click here to download a PDF of a road map that leads to a degree in three semesters.) Those who have few multimedia skills may be required to take an extra course to bring them up to speed.
